The Simple Pleasures Bit

The small rituals and pleasures that make ordinary days feel a touch more extraordinary.

The Extraordinary Ordinary

Finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Modern life spends a great deal of time insisting that happiness is located somewhere else.

A bigger house.

A better body.

A morning routine involving several apps and excessive faith in oat milk.

Possibly a retreat in the mountains hosted by somebody named Kai.

And yet, most genuinely good moments arrive quietly.

A proper cup of tea when it is raining outside.

The first warm day after winter.

Walking outside early enough to hear birdsong properly.

Fresh bread. Good coffee. Sea air. A favourite chair. The satisfaction of cancelling plans you never really wanted to attend.

None of these are especially dramatic. But together, they form a surprisingly convincing argument for being alive.

This section is a collection of small pleasures, local adventures, accidental discoveries, small rituals, and ordinary moments that somehow feel larger once you pay attention.

Not because they are productive.

Not because they improve your personal brand.

And certainly not because they belong in an optimised morning routine.

Simply because life becomes considerably more interesting when you finally slow down.

There will be walks.

There will be weather.

There will almost certainly be tea.

And, with any luck, the occasional reminder that an ordinary day can still contain an extraordinary amount of wonder.

Everyday Joys

Small rituals and simple joys— the perfect brew, good bread, a proper breakfast sport on the telly— and the deep pleasure of doing them properly.
